First Spanish dinner

Last night, the thirteen of us students and three of the program staff had our welcome dinner at a small restaurant called AliƱo. The first courses of appetizers included shrimp and mushrooms, fried cheese, and salad. This trip I've vowed to eat anything put in front of me, so the last couple of nights have been interesting. The entree was paella with shrimp, calamari, some other fish, and these small (whole) squids that were maybe one and a half or two inches across. The calamari was the best I've ever had. The squid were a bit crunchy. Luckily I have "un estomago de hierro.." Dessert was an incredible chocolate tort.

The rest of the semester should be interesting, from a food standpoint.
