Perugia

We spent the night of Monday, April 2nd, and most of Tuesday in Perugia, which is a mountainous town in Umbria, between Florence and Rome. It was filled with lots of winding narrow streets and hills. Our hotel room had a balcony with a nice view of Assisi, about 20 minutes away, and although it was a bit hazy, we had some pretty good panoramas. After we got into town, we met my buddy Jason for dinner. The pizza was the best we had in all of Italy. Afterwards, we went to a wine bar, sampled the selection, and met Frank, another high school friend that I had run into randomly in Florence a couple of nights before. Both Frank and Jason were in my class at Wheat Ridge and are studying in Perugia this semester.

Tuesday morning, we met Jason for breakfast, and then we explored the town's main piazzas, saw the views, and went into the palace. Kara and I found a place to use the internet, then explored a little more on our own before finding lunch. Later we met Jason, Frank, and Ashley (also from WR) along with some of their Italian friends for gelato. Afterwards, Jason, Kara, and I went to the medieval garden, which was really cool and had some good views of the countryside. That evening, we caught the train to Rome, though it would have been nice to relax a little more in the mountains.
