Málaga
We spent Saturday and Sunday night in Málaga, a city located on the Costa del Sol (Sunny Coast) of the Mediterranean. Like Granada, the weather was perfect (lucky for us, because it was pouring the whole time in Madrid). Málaga isn't really known for anything in particular. Like every other European city, there's a cathedral, a palace, and an art museum, but the city is mainly known its Spanish and Andalusian character as well as its beaches. We got in Saturday night. Our hotel was located about a five minute walk from the city center, which was a really cool place to just walk around. The car-less main drag was always packed with people no matter what time. We had dinner and drinks in town before calling it a night. The next morning we walked around a little more before having breakfast in the same part of town, enjoying the leisurely pace of life in Spain (especially Andalusia). It's typical to spend an hour or two at the table even when you're just having coffee.
We spent Sunday afternoon lying on the beach. We had to walk through town about 20 minutes to get there, and then a little more to find this spot under a palm tree (didn't want to bake the whole time), though we relocated to the sand later. They say the beaches in Málaga aren't the best on the Costa del Sol, but between the blue sky, mountains, city, palm trees, and water, we at least had good views.
