Blog Launch

As any visitor by now has gathered, I have ventured into the bloggers’ realm.

It’s really quite amazing how much attention is now paid to blogging. Whereas mass exposure used to be the privilege of the few in the mainstream media, the advent of the web has allowed for a democratization of information. Anyone and everyone can voice their opinion. Of course, the question of bloggers’ reliability follows general concerns about the quality of information on the internet, but some might suggest that accuracy, objectivity, and credibility are becoming scarce in the traditional media. In any event, if any average Joe can give his armchair assessments of politics, sports, or popular culture, I might as well throw in my two cents. I have no illusions of grandeur that people will be flocking to this site to read my words, but as I stop by several different blogs on my morning surf, I should allow others the same access to my opinions.

So about me: I’m a 19 year-old student at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., approaching the end of my freshman year. I’m an undecided major, but considering history, Spanish, or economics. Four years of writing editorials for my high school paper have caused me to enjoy telling people what I think. Specifically, I’ll comment on politics, sports, Taekwon-Do (plus anything Korean), and current events. Enjoy!

One note on the blog's title, "Walls of the Cave," which has two significances: Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, in which he discusses the nature of perception, reality, and intellectualism (see here), and my favorite Phish song (though it has nothing to do with Plato).
