"Worst" Buy at it again

Link here. The "Buy More" has done it again. We've all had personal experience with their lack of personal service, but this one takes the cake. This woman tried to exercise that extended warranty that the salesmen always push so hard to sell, and then Worst Buy lost the computer it was supposed to fix. They low-balled her with gift card offers and later a refund, but those said nothing to the value of the data on the computer or the risk to losing her personal information. Apparently under law, Best Buy was supposed to notify her when her personal data was lost, but they haven't done so.

Now she's sued for $54 million dollars. She says she picked the number because she wanted to get the media's attention and that the amount came from a similar case where a dry cleaner lost a patron's pants (I don't think he won). She seems to have attracted a lot of attention and she should receive a host of offers for free legal representation. People will say she's crazy for suing for $54 million, but it's not about that dollar amount. Attention should be drawn to Best Buy's horrible customer service and negligence in not disclosing that her identity was at risk. It probably won't be hard for her to be awarded or for them to settle for damages far exceeding the latest offer from Best Buy, which was hush money at best.
