Ben Franklin's Beer

Kara's grandmother took us to dinner at the City Tavern, which is a colonial-style dining experience in Old City, just a few blocks from Independence Hall, etc. I had their special for the night "Chicken a la Franklin," which is marinated in Ben Franklin's ale, which is a darker ale flavored with molasses. The special also came with a complimentary pint of the ale, which was tasty (though I normally don't care for molasses-flavored beer). Everything down to the place settings and employee attire was colonial, and we ate by candle light. I definitely have to take my parents during their next visit.

New drivers license

It's not really the new one. This is just a temp until there real one gets here in 15 days. I deleted the personal info because there are crazies out there, but you get the idea. I miss Colorado and will always consider myself a Colorado native and a Colorado sports fan. It was weird to get something that identifies me as otherwise, but I am entering a new phase of my life. Car registration will hopefully take place next week.

Here's a sunset shot from our new place. Nothing like looking west at the Rockies though...

New City

I meant to post many times over the past few weeks, but finals, graduation weekend, and now moving has prevented drafts from turning into posts. Kara and I just moved to Philadelphia and are in the midst of building furniture and getting unpacked. I'll post pictures soon!

So I've accepted a job...

For anyone out there who doesn't know yet, I've accepted a job in Philadelphia with Global Insight, a firm that deals in economic and financial forecasting and analysis as well as consulting services. This opportunity will allow me to develop my skills, gain valuable experience, and have my foot in the door with a very well known economics firm. This position fits my background very well. Of course, I'll be graduating with a B.S. in Economics, and reflecting my minor in Spanish, I'll be compiling data from Latin American sources and answering help desk questions from Spanish speaking clients. In addition, while I worried somewhat about the practical application of those three semesters of Korean that I took, one of the first things Global Insight is doing is enrolling me in a class to develop those skills (Korean speakers are very much in demand). While I've often thought about how I might have done things differently, I've managed to find a job that reflects most major facets of my university education.

A reprisal!

Ah, the good ol' days of when SNL was funny. Here's a clip of John Stewart interviewing Will Ferrell (reprising his role of G.W. Bush) on a recent Comedy Central benefit for autism research. You have to scroll down a little bit to watch it...

Not really your "average Joes"

I usually only agree with about half of what CNN's Roland Martin writes, but this piece was a pretty interesting look at the political game.
